What is Papercutting: what do you need to get started?
Enough talk, let's get to action!
To practice, you will need a few accessories, few but essential:
>> Basic equipment:
- Quality paper: Choose suitable paper, neither too thin (to avoid tears) nor too thick (to facilitate cutting). A weight of 160 to 220 g/m² is ideal for beginners.
- A precision cutter: A cutter with a fine and sharp blade is essential for making clean and detailed cuts.
- A cutting mat: Protects your table and facilitates cutting thanks to its self-healing surface and guides. They come in sizes from A6 to A2. To start, prefer an A4 size, then increase the size if you enjoy Papercutting!
>> Complementary accessories
-
Templates or patterns: You can choose models found on the Internet, or gathered here and there, or opt for one of our beginner models
Repositionable adhesive tape: Useful for holding your paper in place during cutting.
Fine tweezers or needle: To gently remove the small cut-out parts.

A kit is available on the site with all the necessary accessories to get started
>> A comfortable workspace:
A well-lit surface (preferably an architect's lamp or natural light). A comfortable chair to be able to focus on your project.

Well, hard to have this kind of desk, a simple corner of a table will do!
>> A dose of patience...
...and the desire to create
Papercutting is an art that requires a bit of practice to master the movements, but there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your first creation take shape!
With these basic tools, you are ready to explore this creative hobby at your own pace, combining pleasure and relaxation. 😊
